Franca Van Allen
Bio:
Franca, was born and raised in Italy in a family and culture that valued art education. ÌýHer dad, was a carpenter and a cabinet maker who loved all Baroque and Renaissance artists. ÌýHe taught Franca to appreciate the beauty and craftmanship in the arts. ÌýHer academic studies focused on psychology and philosophy making her a ‘permanent student of human nature.’ ÌýCurrently, she is a full-time artist, continuing her education through the creative process.
Artist Statement:
I am a mixed media and mixed technique artist. ÌýI often start my work with a printed background or collage before I move to drawing and painting. ÌýI like the grungy, unfinished quality I get from it. ÌýIn my work, I favor a combination of representational and abstract images. ÌýThe objects in my compositions speak to the passage of time, memories, or visions; their imperfections and incompleteness reveal their beauty, surprise me, make them more real. I hope my work connects the viewers to their own memories and visions. Ìý
