Playing “Solitaire in the Twilight Zone”

The Artwork The time 1950’s, the setting is any run down hotel in any number of the countless cities as a tired travelling salesman relaxes after a hard days work to play a relaxing game of solitaire.�� Only problem is: suddenly all the cards are blank!�� What happens next?

Background:�� As a child I had always looked forward to Sunday nights, when the Twlight Zone Show came on TV!�� It was a family event, everyone excited about what the story; its message and of course the surprise ending would be.�� We watched on our small screen black and white TV which was the standard at the time.

Years later I was an art student at Old Dominion University, Norfolk Virginia in the 1970’s when we had a visit from Rod Serling!�� He told us about the workings of the twilight zone TV show.�� He must have told us about the creative aspects of the show.���� Locations, sets how to adapt a short story, but what I remember most is that he talked about the stress of producing a weekly show on a limited budget.���� I guess it was that stress and heavy smoking that lead to his death on the operating table while undergoing open-heart surgery.

One question I would have liked to ask him was why in so many episodes there was a character named Corey?
